Temporary cone strainers (and plate strainers) are fitted into pipelines to capture debris, scale, weld slag and other solids from liquids or gases before they can damage equipment or restrict flow. Manufactured from perforated plate or mesh, they provide a simple, low-cost way to protect pumps, valves, meters and downstream components.
These strainers are most commonly installed during commissioning, maintenance and line cleaning—helping ensure the system is flushed and running clean before placing the plant into normal operation. Once the line is stable, the temporary strainer can be removed, or a permanent design can be specified where ongoing protection is required.
Temporary cone strainers capture debris, weld slag and scale during commissioning and maintenance. Designed with an appropriate open-area ratio to protect equipment while maintaining flow.

Truncated cone strainers provide a higher open-area ratio than standard cones, reducing pressure drop and extending run time. Built to suit your line size, flow rate and filtration duty.

Inverted cone sections maximise available screen surface area when cone length is restricted. Ideal where you need more filtration area without increasing the overall strainer length.

Full-face flange patterns improve support and reduce the risk of screen collapse under differential pressure. Recommended where higher loads, thinner mesh, or challenging flow direction are expected.

Reinforcing can be added to suit higher differential pressures, longer run times, or larger diameters. Options are selected to match screen material, open area requirements and duty conditions.

Spacer rings are supplied for installations that require a fixed face-to-face length after the temporary strainer is removed. A simple, reliable way to restore standard flange spacing and sealing.
